SOFAPAKA HUMBLES GOR

Sofapaka flogged reigning champions Gor Mahia 3-1 in a Kenyan Premier League match at Narok Stadium on Saturday 8th February, 2020.

The hosts took an early lead within 32 seconds of the match after Elli Asieche made a fine delivery into the box, finding Promise Chinonso well placed to connect a header into the back of the net.

Gor would, however, restore parity fourteen minutes later through Samuel Onyango who soared high above the two Sofapaka defenders who had sandwiched him to nod in a Kenneth Muguna’s well delivered cross from the right flank, leaving keeper Aimo Richard flat-footed and helpless.

Nigerian wonderkid Promise Chinonso Sofapaka bagged a brace in the 55th minute to restore Sofapaka’s lead when he headed in Elli Asieche’s delivery from a resultant corner kick.

Sebastine Sunday unleashed a rasping shot that flung into the net past a hapless Gor Mahia custodian David Mapigano to make it three and put the game beyond the reach of the defending champions.

The win places Sofapaka eighth on the log as they now focus on their next match against Balaji EPZ in FKF Betway Cup.
